The History Department at Warminster School aims to enthuse and educate all students in the exciting events that shape our world today. Beginning with the medieval world, pupils take an exciting journey through history encountering the triumphs and crises, heroes and villains that have shaped the modern era.

We take an active approach to teaching and learning, encouraging students to think, evaluate, develop and share their ideas. History students at Warminster School certainly take note of Flaubert’s warning, and we openly question the major debates of our time.

We organise a range of lectures from prominent speakers on a variety of historical topics, which have included Professor Ronald Hutton from the University of Bristol on the 'Battle for Merry England.'

The department prides itself on its domestic and international educational visits, most recently to the Imperial War Museum and the Houses of Parliament, London, and Krakow and Auschwitz, Poland.
